Julia Zhu - Dreams Come True 

 

My name is Zhu Xiaojuan. My friends call me Julia. I graduated with a masters degree in Electrical Engineering at Xi'an University, China. I was able to immigrate to Canada 2004 via my special skills. My dream is to travel around the world every month of the year living in a different country. I want the feeling to not have look at the price tag when I buy things and I eventually will establish a charity and a build a school.

 

I realized that my previous job experiences could not help me accomplish my dreams. I have experienced two painful layoffs in the past. I remember being watched by others while I pack up to leave. It felt very shameful. Because of that, I decided that I must have my own career. I began looking for new opportunities. It was about seven years ago, I was introduced to glycoscience. I knew that it can give me a path so that I can fulfill my dreams. I began to believe and began to see a vision. From that my husband and I created the Happy Team. 

 

It was that time I found my mentor and coach Dr. Steve Hines. I am very grateful for his guidance. Because of our difference in language, it was difficult to fully understand each other. Dr. Hines then introduced another young and promising leader to us, Kenny Lu. Kenny was able to speak both English and Chinese as a first language. With the guidance from the combination of Dr. Hines and Kenny, we were able to double our revenue from previous years by many folds. This changed my life, and brought to my friends a life full of passion, the feeling of joy by helping people experience the joy of realizing a dream. This career gives us a real sense of mission, fulfills the meaning of life. I believe those of like-minded leaders can change the world together. I feel very proud. I used to never think that the word "great” could be associated with ordinary people like us. Being part of the movement to change 5 million children's lives with malnutrition is something my husband and I feel very satisfied in contributing to.
